Black Magic technique with apples card

Hello again my crafty friends! This week’s theme at Shopping Our Stash Challenge #271 is Apples for Teacher/Use fruits or vegetables so I decided to finally try out this new to me technique! I have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to break out the clear embossing powder and Black Soot Distress ink! So, here is my Design Team card and under it I’ll tell you how I did it!

I wish you could see this card in real life! It looks good enough to eat! To do this you need a stamp with a solid image to fill in the open area or you need to mask off your image in order to cover it with Versamark ink. I chose a stamp set from Stamps of Life that has an outline of the apple and a solid inside. First, I stamped the outline in a black ink on white paper and used the matching die to cut out a few masks of the apple. I placed the outer portion of the mask around the apple and sponged the apples with Distress Inks in Candied Apple, Twisted Citron and Mustard Seed and used a new mask with each color so they wouldn’t mix then I stamped over the ink with the solid stamp and Versamark ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. My Versamark pad wasn’t very juicy so it left some pit marks on the apples but once I was done, I liked the way it looked with them so I didn’t start over! Once the card cooled down, I sponged Black Soot Distress Ink over everything and then took a paper towel and buffed off the excess on the apples! Magic! The clear embossing powder resists the black ink and keeps the apples red, yellow and green! The black ink just makes those apples pop! Then I heat embossed a phrase on vellum and assembled the card!

Stamping with a multi colored ink pad Fall Leaves card

Happy Fall to my fellow crafty friends! This card is for my Design Team submission for Cardz 4 Guyz Challenge #139 Using Autumn or Fall colors! I have been hoarding this one ink pad for at least five years and rarely use it so imagine my surprise when I decide to break it out and it is still juicy! Unbelievable! It’s really old and stamps like it’s brand new!

So, this is a Spectrum pad that when you want to use it you push the lever and all the mini ink pads come together to make one big pad of several colors. This one is all Fall colors and when you are done stamping, you pull the lever and they all separate so the colors stay in their own ink pad and don’t blend. Truly remarkable how this one stayed wet! Anyway, the little trick to making the stamped image look great is to tap the stamp over the pad and make sure you move it back and forth just a little bit around the pad so the colors are blended when you stamp.

Please go see what the other members of the design team created using Fall colors!

Gingerbread Man card

Hi again! The theme for the challenge #268 at Hiding in my Craft Room is any holiday! We had the pleasure of using our sponsors images to make our inspiration cards for you! I chose the cutest gingerbread man holding what I think is a sugar plum! After a bit of a google search on how to color a sugar plum, here is my Design Team submission!

The winner of this challenge will get a $5 voucher from our sponsor, Digital Delights! So get a head start on your Holiday cards and link up a card! You could be the winner!

Not feeling the Fairies or Angels challenge! Yuk!

So, hello. I am not that happy today. The challenge at Shopping Our Stash #270 Using Fairies or Angels just kicked my behind. I am not feeling it. Nope. Not at all. I spent a lot of time on this Design Team submission and kinda feel like I shouldn’t have bothered. Alone, my card is ok but put it next to what the other design team members created and I feel like I need to light a match! Their cards are ultra fabulous! Don’t waste time here! Go to the blog and soak in all of the beautiful cards and projects they created! I don’t think fairies or angels are my thing. I’m ok with that. Not everything is going to be fabulous! How about a critter card? Now that I can do! Moving on to the next challenge!

A Truckload of Pumpkins card

Happy almost Fall, Y’all! This card is for my Design Team submission for Cardz 4 Guyz Challenge #138 Using a car – any kind of car, sports, vintage, classic, whatever! Of course I didn’t have a stamp with any type of car so I decided to break out my Tiddly Inks digi stamp again! I know I used it recently but hey, I really like it!

Anyway, please go check out what the other members of the design team created for your inspiration then go add your own card!
